Background: Betzy Akersloot-Berg was born in 1850 in Oslo.
Education: After first nurse to have been at the flaps, she visited at about the age of 25 the Royal Academy of Art in Oslo. In 1881 she settled in Munich to enroll at the artist Otto Sinding. After her encounter with Hendrick Willem Mesdag she left Scheveningen to join him in the apprentice.
Achievements: In 1896 she went with her husband Gooswinus Akersloot in Tromp’s Huys live. Under the influence of the ‘Hague School’ she developed an collection of more than 300 paintings, drawings and prints, which manages the museum much. On the couple Akersloot the museum named Tromp’s Huys owe.
